Funding Facts
On 24 October 2007, the Minister for Health and Social Services (Edwina Hart, AM) set out proposals for the allocation of £2 million recurrent revenue funding for the 20 palliative care hospices in Wales. As a result, Tŷ Hafan received £436,000 for 2007-8 from the Welsh Assembly Government and Local Health Boards.
A long term future is vital for our children and their families.
Ensuring our continuity is fulfilling our promise to care for them as early as initial diagnosis all through their lives, perhaps for as long as 19 years.
There is no alternative for most of our children; hospitals look after sick children, but Tŷ Hafan is the only option for those with life-limiting conditions.
Over the years, the hospice, the carers and support team become a vital part of their lives and an invaluable support to the families. It is a bond which we do not want to break.
Public support (Ipsos MORI Omnibus survey for Help the Hospices September 2006) showed that
- 87% believe that everyone with a terminal illness should have the right to receive hospice care.
- 78% believe that the government should contribute 50% or more towards the cost of hospices and hospice care.
Tŷ Hafan actively promotes its case to the Welsh Assembly Government.
