Jayne Saunders

Jayne Saunders - Director of care at Tŷ Hafan

Jayne originally trained as a State Registered Nurse before undertaking her registered Sick Children's Nurse Training in Cardiff in 1981. Jayne worked as Ward Sister in the Children's Ward at Royal Gwent Hospital before commencing her career in Children's Palliative Care as a specialist nurse in 1993. Jayne joined Tŷ Hafan in August 1998, in order to put the finishing touches to the clinical aspects of the hospice and undertaking the recruitment and selection of the care team and hospice staff in preparation for the opening of the hospice in January 1999.

Since joining Tŷ Hafan, Jayne has seen the hospice grow and flourish not only in terms of the actual building itself, and the services available, but also in the number of children and their families that Tŷ Hafan has been able to support.

Professionally Tŷ Hafan has enabled her to successfully complete a BSc in Professional Practice in Nursing with a Specialist Practitioner element in Children's Nursing with emphasis on Children's Palliative Care.

Jayne is proud to have been the Director of Care since May 2005 and to work with extremely dedicated professionals, throughout the organisation.
