Bob Lewis - the chairman of Tŷ Hafan

Chairman of Tŷ Hafan

Robert has been a trustee and director since 1993. He became chairman in 2005 and was also interim Chief Executive of Tŷ Hafan from January 2006 to June 2006.

He was a Chief Executive in the NHS for many years and held senior HR and planning positions in the NHS and local government. Throughout his career Robert has led major changes in all the organisations in which he was employed which culminated in managing an organisation employing 2,500 staff and an annual budget exceeding £130 million.

In addition to his extensive commitment to Tŷ Hafan, he is a non executive director with a housing association and a JP on the Cardiff Bench.

He is married with three grown up children and is a keen sportsman; a former football referee and a committee chairman of Radyr golf club.

"I have been involved with Tŷ Hafan almost since its conception I have seen it grow from a ‘good idea' to a magnificent facility providing essential care and support to children and their families. The generosity of the public, businesses of Wales and the media has been superb, without which the dream of providing Wales with its own children's hospice would not have become a reality. The dedication of the staff in caring for these vulnerable individuals and the effort and inventiveness of raising millions of pounds annually requires special and constant praise. The leadership, strategy and direction provided by the board of directors ensures the successes achieved to date will be developed and enhanced in the future to ensure this essential service is available for generations to come."
