What does Tŷ Hafan do?
We provide palliative care for children with life limiting conditions.
What is children's palliative care?
Children's palliative care is an active and total approach to care, embracing physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements. It focuses on enhancement of quality of life for the child and support for the family and includes the management of distressing symptoms, provision of respite and care through death and bereavement.

Where is the hospice?
The hospice is near Sully, in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. But, many of our services are delivered in the community.
Is Tŷ Hafan the only hospice in Wales?
It is the only children's hospice based in South Wales and looks after children from South, East, West and Mid Wales. Tŷ Gobaith, a subsidiary of Hope House, is located in North Wales.
When did the hospice open?
The hospice opened in January 1999 and was built and equipped at a cost of £3 million, which was fully funded by public donations.
How much do parents pay?
Nothing. Our service is free.
How much does it cost to run?
It costs £2.5 million a year to run the hospice.
How much funding does Tŷ Hafan receive?
In 2007-8, Tŷ Hafan received £436,000 from the Welsh Assembly Government and Local Health Boards.
Where does the rest of the money come from?
The remaining amount needed comes from our commercial activities (lottery and shops) and fundraising (community and corporate fundraising, events and legacies).
How big is the lottery?
The lottery has over 37,000 members and is the largest and most efficient hospice lottery in the UK. Analysis of the accounts of UK independent voluntary hospices 2004-06 (Help the Hospices).
How many shops does Tŷ Hafan have?
There are currently 15 shops.
Does Tŷ Hafan have a patron?
Tŷ Hafan's patron is HRH The Prince of Wales.
How can donations be made to Tŷ Hafan?
Donations can be made as cash, a cheque, standing order or by credit card, by post (Registered/Head Office, St. Hilary Court, Copthorne Way, Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff, CF5 6ES - +44 (0) 29 2067 2060), at one of the shops or donate online.
