Helping your child

We are here to help your child experience life to the full. Each child is central to the service we provide and we believe in helping you and your child make the most of your precious time you have together. We want to help your child achieve their goals and do the things that are important to them. We’ll play, help develop friendships, provide experiences and let your children be children!

Listening to your stories we can find out what your child enjoys in life, perhaps helping you and your child communicate in new ways through activities and therapy. By spending time with your child, we’ll help them express their feelings and thoughts. Our experience of life-limiting conditions and professional palliative care expertise means we can answer many of the difficult questions they may have.

Throughout our experiences, we have listened to the many children and families who are living with life-limiting conditions and learnt from their expertise. From this knowledge, we are confident in managing any expectations a life-limiting condition may bring, whether your child has a diagnosis or not, and can offer a tailor made care programme to suit your family life.

We can alleviate your child’s pain and discomfort through care provision at the hospice, or contributing to your existing community support. This care provision may take the form of medication, physiotherapy, healthy diet, hydrotherapy, complementary therapies such as massage and distraction therapy through music or play. Whilst some of this care is necessary, we strive to always make it fun and a positive experience for your child.
