Inside our hospice

Tŷ Hafan is more than just a place. It's a unique attitude to care and support.

One that extends right into the heart of the family home providing a much-needed source of strength, respite and support. It's about creating and cherishing a lifetime of memories. It's about joy, laughter and friendship. It's about life.

The hospice itself is a very special place.

Located near Sully in its own beautiful grounds, the hospice is a "haven" for children and families alike. It is where children can be themselves in a "home from home" environment, and mums and dads can relax and perhaps meet others coping with similar situations.

The hospice is about making the best of short, precious lives. Designed by an award-winning architect, Nigel Arnold. The building is constantly bright, airy and, often as not, full of laughter and fun.

The individual bedrooms are specially designed to accommodate life-limited children without the obvious paraphernalia of a clinical environment and can be decorated with each child's special hero or colours to create a welcome and comfortable feeling of "ownership" for the duration of their stay.

Nearly 300 children have been cared for here since it opened in January 1999 and many friendships have been made between children, siblings, families and staff.

Families can be accommodated at the hospice in our family rooms, and mums and dads can take a well-earned break, make a cup of tea and chat with other parents. For some parents, a stay at Tŷ Hafan is the only time they get a full-night's sleep; it's time to be with the healthy brothers and sisters, to take a shopping trip or just spend time together.

Children can enjoy the wonderful facilities (the toy library, multi-sensory room, jacuzzi, music room and soft play area) and use these to learn and communicate. The quality of our care is always of the highest standard, maintained through rigorous training and skills development, and our staff are always approachable and understanding. Why not meet the team?
