A mere warm up for Team GB cyclists

Monday 20 August 2012

Cycling twenty six miles would obviously be a mere warm up for the likes of Bradley Wiggins, Sir Chris Hoy and others who take part in this currently popular sport but for those who have only recently been inspired by the success of the Team GB it provides a very good opportunity to try it out.

The Tŷ Hafan Half Taff challenge taking place on Sunday 2 September is a comparatively gentle route, much of it off-road, starting at Rhydycar Leisure Centre in Merthyr Tydfil and passing through some beautiful countryside and the leafy suburbs of Cardiff before finishing in the Bay. It’s the perfect opportunity to join your friends, family or work colleagues to either set yourselves a challenge to achieve a personal best time to complete the route, or just simply take it easier and enjoy the surroundings.

Last year over 130 cyclists took on the challenge and arrived in Cardiff Bay, to a heroes welcome..

Sali Thomas from Tŷ Hafan said “The Taff Trail Cycle Challenge is always a popular event and the shorter route starting from Merthyr gives a chance for families or those who take cycling less seriously to take part”

To sign up visit www.thetafftrail.co.uk or call 02920 672060. Registration for the event is £40 per team with each team raising a minimum of £250 in sponsorship which will ensure Tŷ Hafan continues to provide care and support to the youngsters and their families who access its services.
