A very special four-year-old who was referred to Tŷ Hafan when she was a baby will be opening the charity’s 28th shop in Aberystwyth on Wednesday 16 October.
Little Elain James and her mum Bridget, of Rhydfelin, were delighted to be asked to cut the ribbon for Tŷ Hafan’s latest shop in Pier Street.
Elain, who suffers from a rare heart condition and a genetic disorder, visits Tŷ Hafan with her family and adores the charity’s hydrotherapy pool and new adventure playground.
Bridget, 31, who ran 13 half marathons in 13 days to raise funds for a number of charities including Tŷ Hafan said: “Elain loves Tŷ Hafan. They are a lifeline for us and help our family create special memories which we’ll cherish forever.”
Elain’s picture will feature in the design of the shop to remind customers that their purchases will directly support life-limited children and their families across Wales.
Matt Williams, General Retail Manage at Tŷ Hafan, said: “We are delighted to be opening our latest shop in Aberystwyth – an area where we provide care and support to life-limited children and their families. We need to raise £3.7m each year to provide our services and our shops make a valuable contribution towards our running costs which is why it is so important for us to expand our retail operation across Wales.”
All Tŷ Hafan’s shops have a reputation for being pleasurable places to browse and find high-quality bargains and the latest addition is no exception.
Donations of good quality clothing, books, toys, CDs and DVDs are all very welcome and Tŷ Hafan is also looking for volunteers to help out at the new shop.
