A bride described her wedding day as a “fairytale” thanks to a charity which has supported her family since the death of her precious baby daughter.
Angela and Stephen Price, from Ely, had been together for 22 years before tying the knot on Sunday 7 June. Joined by their four daughters, family and friends, the couple described their wedding as “perfect in every way.”
Tŷ Hafan, the hospice for children in Wales, has supported the family ever since their baby daughter, Katie, was referred to the charity in 2011. Katie was born with hypoplasticleft heart syndrome and was transferred from the neonatal intensive care unit in Bristol to Tŷ Hafan at six days old. Katie, sadly, died in her father’s arms just half an hour later, surrounded by her family.
Tŷ Hafan has supported the family ever since and even helped with their wedding day preparations. The charity donated a wedding dress from its boutique charity shop in Cowbridge, helped with the venue, created bunting from rag items donated to its shops, provided a cake, arranged hotels plus lots more.
Angela said: “The whole day was so special and was like a fairytale. It was lovely to finally marry Steve after all we’ve been through and we can’t thank Tŷ Hafan enough for everything they have done for us.”
The family kindly opened the charity’s 30th shop in Cardiff city centre two days before their big day and have since donated the wedding dress and decorations back to Tŷ Hafan’s shops to help make a difference to another couple’s special day as well as raising funds for the charity.
Since 1999, Tŷ Hafan has been helping life-limited children and their families make the most of the time they have left together. Tŷ Hafan provides support for the whole family and never stops caring for the bereaved.
