With 15 years’ senior management experience, Kate joins Tŷ Hafan from John Taylor Hospice in Birmingham where she led their successful journey out of NHS ownership to become a gold standard not-for-profit social enterprise.

Now in her third week at Tŷ Hafan, Kate said: “Everyone I have met, in whatever they do, has conveyed their passion and commitment to the children and families we support. Tŷ Hafan has a huge heart, a tremendous team spirit and it’s a privilege to be appointed CEO.”

As well as extensive knowledge and experience, Kate brings a calm and positive energy and an innovative approach, key in supporting Tŷ Hafan, the hospice for children in Wales, as it continues to fulfil its mission to deliver the highest standard of free care and support in the hospice and at home.

Kate said: “Tŷ Hafan enables life-limited children, young people and their families to embrace all that life has to offer in circumstances that are the most trying. At Tŷ Hafan, our job is to make that a little easier.”

Signalling her passion for fundraising, Kate will be taking part in Tŷ Hafan’s Barry Rainbow Run on 7 May alongside 1,200 other participants.

She said: “I am inspired by the support for Tŷ Hafan from the people of Wales and am look forward to joining some of our incredible supporters at the Rainbow Run.”

Chairperson of Tŷ Hafan, Maria Timon Samra, said: “I am delighted to welcome Kate to our organisation. It is a busy time at Tŷ Hafan with increasing demand for our services and I am confident the charity will go from strength-to-strength under her leadership. Kate inherits a professional, committed, highly experienced team and will work with them to deliver our strategy and to lead our innovation in a world that is increasingly challenging for charities.

Since 1999, Tŷ Hafan has been helping life-limited children and their families make the most of the time they have left together. To continue to offer its unique service to families, Tŷ Hafan relies on the generosity of the public, its corporate sponsors and volunteers.
