The Sausage Revolution

Public warning: you are about to get hungry!

Tŷ Hafan is lucky enough to be within throwing distance of The Sausage Revolution, the Cuban inspired gourmet sausage restaurant run by former Dragon’s Den hopeful and Hot Diggidy Dog chilli sauce entrepreneur Simon Llewellyn. And for a special treat for our siblings group, he invited them to come along and have a go at creating their very own Tŷ Hafan inspired Sausage Revolution Hot Dog!

Simon said: “We were delighted to have a quirky and unique way to support our local kids charity. When you have your own children, it makes you realise more what others are going through and makes you want to help in whatever way you can, however big or small.

“We’ve found ourselves reflecting on what we have and realised that we have very little to moan about really. It’s just such a pleasure to be able to put a smile on the children’s faces.”

The children spent the afternoon in the restaurant, sampling different ingredients and coming up with the perfect combinations. The sibs then set about judging their creations in a blind taste test.

The winning effort was by Emily and Isabella with their (your choice of) sausage, ham, grated cheese and baked beans, nestled between a delicious brioche bun and will be sold in The Sausage Revolution. And every Sibs Dog sold will mean a donation to Tŷ Hafan.

Sibling Support Coordinator at Tŷ Hafan, Anna Bowyer, added: “When we were presented with the opportunity to work with The Sausage Revolution, I was really excited. Although it might seem like a bit of a peculiar venue to take a group of children for a day of fun, I knew we could make it work, as we have done with other local companies!

“It's great way to work within the locality and the children just loved designing, trying and judging the hotdogs especially as they were being served by a giant hotdog!

“Simon, Jason and the team couldn't have been more accommodating and the winning dog by Emily and Isabella has all the elements of a classic kid’s favourite in the making (and maybe for the adults too)! So please go and give it a try!”
