For Philip Hopkins’s last visit at Tŷ Hafan, our staff made sure he had an extra special time by taking him to the beach.
This was his first time on the beach – and he was smiling the whole day!
His mum, Anne, said: “It’s something we had wanted to do for such a long time.
“I’ve lived in Barry for 19 years and have never been able to go on the beach with him.
“Philip uses a wheelchair, he needs oxygen and can have acute episodes. To get him on the sand in his wheelchair, and for him to feel the water around his toes was such a special moment.
“Going to the beach is one of those things that most people take for granted. Philip having a splash around with the water around his toes, is a memory we will treasure forever.
“It was amazing and I had tears of happiness when I saw him.
“We will be forever grateful to Tŷ Hafan for helping to make this happen.”
