fast parts rallying to pay for second day of care

Back in 2016 we were eager to raise enough money to reach £10,958 and Pay for a Day at Tŷ Hafan. After much consideration, the Fast Parts Family Rainbow Rally was born.

More than £20,000 later, it’s safe to say that we succeeded in meeting our target, thanks to an incredibly generous effort from the public and automotive aftermarket industry in which we are based.

The rally was the perfect way to involve families while still keeping the theme relevant to our industry.

Despite a weekend of typical Welsh weather in true Bank Holiday form, spirits remained high in the team, participants and Tŷ Hafan representatives and we received incredible feedback from all involved in the fun-filled event.

The rally began with the cars leaving Fast Parts’s Abercarn branch and travelling across Wales, while stopping off throughout the journey to take part in fun-filled challenges and fundraise.

The rally stopped at St Catherine’s Walk shopping centre, Carmarthen and Oakwood Theme Park, enabling teams to fundraise for Tŷ Hafan, before setting up camp on Tenby AFC’s pitch for the night.

The following morning participants briefly stopped off at Barry Island for one last fundraising opportunity, and then headed towards Tŷ Hafan where Welsh rugby legend Tom Shanklin was there to welcome them and help present awards.

The rally collected contributions from a variety of sources including Fast Parts Wales customers, suppliers and members of public.

John Kajzer-Hughes & Son Ltd picked up the winner’s trophy and four tickets to the American Festival at Brands Hatch, with the team collecting more than £3000 towards the cause.

Tŷ Hafan is a charity very close to our hearts and over the years we have carried out a number of fundraising initiatives, including donating £10 per person for every training event we hold.

Visiting the hospice last year and meeting some of the children really put our fundraising efforts into perspective and emphasised the importance of the rally.

After visiting again to receive our Pay for a Day apple and put it on the hospice’s Gift Tree, we were able to see first-hand the relaxing, heart-warming and life-changing environment that the hospice offers the children and we are now determined more than ever to get the preparations underway and begin to fundraise once again.

After receiving numerous requests on an almost daily basis, it was clear that there was a massive demand for a Rainbow Rally repeat in 2017.

It will be tough to beat last year’s target but we’re going to give it our best shot and have set the aim of raising a massive £30,000 in line with our 30th Anniversary celebrations.

This might seem like a tall feat but after experiencing the success and support of last year, we believe that anything is possible for this fantastic cause and we’re sure that our team, suppliers, customers and the public will work harder than ever before to meet this target.
