I have worked for Tŷ Hafan for 15 and a half years. I first came to work at Tŷ Hafan part time in the Finance department, then got the opportunity to work full time in the Lottery department. We are the one of the biggest Hospice lotteries in the UK running a weekly draw with over 35,000 players and 81 prizes.
Today, I had the great pleasure and honour to meet HRH Prince Charles, following in my mother’s footsteps who met him on his first ever visit back in 2001. The whole office was a buzz of excitement today to be welcoming royalty. Us girls who were chosen to meet with Prince Charles had been practicing our curtsies and deciding what to wear.
This morning I felt quite nervous and unsure what to expect. When Prince Charles arrived and was brought in to meet us, I was amazed at the length of time he spent talking to every person in the room and I couldn’t believe how down to earth and easy to talk to he was, making me feel very at ease.
This has been amongst one of my most memorable days at Tŷ Hafan, competing with one of our £12,000 Crackerjackpot rollover winners, meeting Leigh Halfpenny and Jamie Roberts to name but a few.
