Well a long journey is finally over!
About 18 months ago, I had this crazy idea to write, record and release a single in aid of a fantastic charity called Tŷ Hafan in South Wales who offer support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. On Friday night, our single 'Don't Look Down', recorded with over 250 voices, goes live on all major platforms, including iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, as well as the video on YouTube.
The choir that I run, Vocal Harmony, has always supported Tŷ Hafan from day one, and after a trek of the Great Wall of China, myself and the choir became a lot closer to the charity and the wonderful work that they do.
When I came back from China I wanted to do something a little different for the charity. We’ve organized plenty of concerts and shows over the years, so my attention turned to writing a song (alongside Loraine King) and teaching it to the various choirs that run throughout south Wales (Llanelli, Cardiff, Swansea and Vocal Harmony Kids). We even had a rehearsal in the hospice, teaching some of the families and siblings the song!
Back in March we brought everyone, over 250 voices, to Swansea and recorded the music video, and audio parts for the release. We then performed this for the first time at the Great Hall in Swansea back in July.
It’s been a long journey to get to this stage, but this recording and song is something that we’re all proud of here at Vocal Harmony. We hope that it will raise lots of money as the CD’s go into the Tŷ Hafan shops, as well as the digital download available on iTunes and many other online retailers.
