who is our new major giving manager?

Hi, I’m Chris the new Major Giving Manager covering for Mair Kinsey while she is away on maternity leave.

My role here is to continue the fantastic work that Mair has been carrying out and develop on this by engaging all things Major Giving related. Aligning funding opportunities with Tŷ Hafan and identifying opportunities to increase income to support the children’s hospice through varying means. I am also responsible for nurturing relationships with our major donors while promoting the hospice and the fantastic work carried out by our team to attract new donors.

It is a pleasure to be involved with Tŷ Hafan especially as this year is our 20 year anniversary. I have been in the role for just under two months and have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about what we do and why we do it. It is an amazing cause and one which I feel very passionate about.

I come to Tŷ Hafan having spent nearly nine years with Sport Wales, predominantly as a Senior Grants Officer. I have gained a wealth of knowledge surrounding grants, funding and investment and as such am now applying this to collaborative funding approaches and significant investment to the hospice and specifically at present the refurbishment project.

Personally, I am a huge sport and specifically rugby fan and was fortunate enough to play to a reasonable standard in my younger years ☺. I have long since hung up the boots, however, now coach as it tends to hurt a little less than playing and enjoy teaching the next generation of rugby players how to do it properly.

Upon my rugby retirement, I needed a new avenue for my energies and as such picked up a microphone. I have been the singer in two signed music bands, multiple cover bands, and have appeared in the early stages of The X Factor and The Voice several years ago (I wasn’t good enough unfortunately to make it all the way to the live shows ☹, but enjoyed the experience nonetheless).

I’m looking forward to continuing my understanding and knowledge of the role and immersing myself in all things Tŷ Hafan.

Chris
