GE Aviation Wales Welsh3peaks Challenge

On 23 June 2012, we will challenge 80 teams of four walkers plus a designated driver, to scale the highest mountains in North, Mid and South Wales within just 15 hours!!

Since this event first began it has raised over £1million!

Over the last twelve years almost 4,000 people have travelled from as far a field as Germany, France, England and Scotland to accept this challenge. Few have had any hiking experience! The GE Aviation Wales Welsh3peaks Challenge has established itself as a major date both in the corporate and sporting calendar. Companies approach the event not only as a team building exercise but also a physical challenge.

Starting at 4am, from Pen y Pass, Snowdonia, 80 teams will take on Snowdon, drive down to the mighty Cadair Idris (also in Snowdonia) before continuing south to Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons. They will walk a total distance of 20.35 miles and make a total ascent of 9,397ft (2,864m) whilst seeing some of the most spectacular views Wales has to offer.

Teams consist of four walkers and one dedicated driver (for safety). The event was entirely financed by General Electric Aircraft Engine Services based near Caerphilly and expertly organised by the dedicated members of GE Wales Elfun. Since the events first outing in 1998, Elfun have helped nearly 4,000 people to complete the Challenge and to raise over a million pounds for Ty Hafan.
