To create a more streamlined registration process before the Taff Trail Cycle Challenge event, we are encouraging participants to download and sign the following disclaimer and to bring it with them on the day to hand in at registration, thank you.

How long is each challenge? 

Full Taff Challenge: 79 kilometers

Half Taff Challenge: 41 kilometers

How many team members can we have?

Full Taff and Half Taff challenges – Teams of four cyclists, however in certain circumstances we can allow teams to have up to a maximum of six members. Please register your team of four cyclists via the registration page on the website and then email the additional one or two member’s details to events@tyhafan.org

Is the Taff Trail Challenge a race?

No, the challenge is NOT a race. The challenge is to raise sponsorship for Tŷ Hafan by successfully completing the individual cycling challenges safely. Team times are not important. Please do not let your competitive spirit overtake you. Safety on the track and roads are of utmost importance.

Are cycle helmets compulsory?

Yes, all cyclists must wear a helmet throughout the event. Participants will not be allowed to start the event if not wearing a helmet.

Team changes

Please inform the Tŷ Hafan events team of any team changes in the run up to the event events@tyhafan.org

Team changes made after Friday 25 August should be made at registration on the day – please allow extra time on the day to make team changes.

What happens if a team member drops out at the last minute?

We encourage you to try and find a replacement team member if possible, however If a team member is unable to attend at the last minute, teams of three can commence the event. However, a team of less than two members cannot start the event, event organisers will pair you up with another team at registration.

Where does the event start?

Full Taff Challenge: Registration and start line is at theatr brycheiniog, Brecon.

Half Taff Challenge: Registration and start line is outside Rhydycar Leisure Centre, Merthyr.

Do I need to follow a set route?

Yes, please ensure that you follow The Taff Trail - Route 8 and follow the additional yellow event signs. Please familiarise yourself with the route beforehand. For safety reasons you must follow the marshalled route.

When will I receive my briefing pack?

Participants will receive a briefing pack via email approximately 5 days after registration, this will include your sponsorship form with race number and your event instructions.

*You will also receive a copy of your sponsorship form and fundraising pack in the post a couple of weeks after registration.

Where do I send my sponsorship money?

Please add the code TT17 followed by the challenge title, i.e. TT17 Tough.

If you decide to send money this way, please send an email to events@tyhafan.org stating your name, the event, the branch you're paying into and the amount.

Can spectators come along to the taff trail?

Spectators are very welcome at the start and finish lines. Please keep a good distance from the route itself and be watchful of travelling cyclists.

Can children take part?

Full Taff Challenge - You must be 16 years old and over to take part.

Half Taff Challenge - You must be 13 years old and over to take part.
