Terry joined the Board of Tŷ Hafan in 2009. He is married to Josephine and they have a son, Stephen.

Terry was born in Cardiff and qualified at the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1971. He was for 28 years a consultant physician based at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tŷdfil and for seven years was Medical Director of North Glamorgan NHS Trust.

Terry was closely involved in the education and training of junior doctors and in the work of the BMA in Wales.
