Ty Hafan

why take part?

Tŷ Hafan is a leading Welsh children’s charity which provides comfort, care and support to the families in Wales who need us.

Through our vibrant hospice, our community- based services and short-break care, we offer families a range of support and help them make the most of the time they have together; creating precious memories and ensuring a short life is a full life. When a child is close to the end of their life, Tŷ Hafan becomes a family’s safe haven, by their side during the most difficult time and for as long as they need us.

With 20 years under our belt and with over 800 children having used the hospice, it’s no surprise that some of the facilities are looking a little tired. So to ensure longevity of the hospice, we are embarking on a refurbishment project that will help Tŷ Hafan be a hospice fit for the future.

why take part

Taking a dip into the cold water on New Years Day takes courage and for that you might find that your friends, family, colleagues or community groups may sponsor you to do this.

£25 – could go towards decorating the ground floor of the hospice with beach themed images. Creating a bright, holiday atmosphere, making the hospice a vibrant and fun place to stay.
£30 – could go towards the ceramic tiles needed for the kitchen. The new, fully equipped kitchen will give our families the freedom and space to carry on as normal, whilst knowing their child is fully supported in the hospice. This takes a massive weight off the shoulders of the families we support.
£50 – could go towards a new coffee table. Our mums, dads and carers can get the chance to enjoy a warm cup of coffee whilst knowing their child is fully supported by Tŷ Hafan staff. This may be the first time in months they’ve been able to switch off.
£60 – could go towards a new dining table in the flat. The flat provides a home-from-home feel in a supported environment. All of the family can stay and eat their meals together, whilst having a chat with members of Tŷ Hafan staff about any worries they have.
£100 – could go pay for work in our new kitchen, giving us a space to prepare home cooked meals for our families. After months of worry and lack of sleep, the burden of cooking for the family is taken away. They can sit down together and enjoy a warm meal.
£150 – could go towards painting the family bedrooms, giving our families a fresh space for them to relax in. The bedrooms are a safe haven for parents, carers and siblings to get some vital rest. A place where they can un-wind and re-charge, ready to face their challenges when they go home.
