Angela and Rob’s journey into parenthood for the second time began with joy and excitement. Their daughter Libby was born full-term, a perfect baby girl and baby sister to their three-year-old son, Evan.
But within hours, their world changed. Libby’s breathing became laboured, and her little feet turned a dusky blue. What followed was every parent’s nightmare — emergency interventions, hospital transfers, and the realisation that Libby was critically unwell.
Doctors later discovered she had a rare lung condition and secondary pulmonary hypertension. Despite her immense strength and radiant smile, Libby’s condition meant every day was uncertain.
Angela and Rob lived moment to moment, cherishing each precious breath, each cuddle, each smile. Libby passed away in their arms at just six months old.
It was during this unimaginable time that Tŷ Hafan stepped in.
Initially unsure about hospice support, Angela now says their referral to Tŷ Hafan was “incredible.” The team offered comfort and connection. Family support officer Hayley became a lifeline, visiting the hospital to create keepsakes with Libby, including a beautiful painting of butterflies made with her fingerprints — a treasure the family holds close.
When Libby died, Hayley was there to support them through the funeral arrangements and their grief. “I really don’t know how we would have done it without her,” Angela reflects.
Although Libby never made it to the hospice, the support from Tŷ Hafan was unwavering. “Once a Tŷ Hafan family, always a Tŷ Hafan family,” they were told — words that gave Angela and Rob strength when they needed it most.
In 2023, when Angela and Rob made their Wills, they included a gift to Tŷ Hafan. “It was an easy decision,” they said. “Including a gift in our Will is just a small token of our huge appreciation for such an incredible charity.”
For them, it’s not just about giving — it’s about ensuring that other families walking a similar path are never alone.
Angela and Rob chose to leave a fixed sum, recognising that while they support the charity regularly, a gift in their Will would allow them to leave a more significant contribution that will have a lasting impact. “We hope our legacy helps ensure that Tŷ Hafan can continue its incredible work for years to come,” they shared.
