Sometimes supporting Tŷ Hafan isn’t just about the money that’s raised. Volunteering and helping to make special moments can be equally rewarding for businesses and for us. The team at Nuaire, a ventilation solutions company based In Caerphilly, have discovered what it’s like to become part of the Tŷ Hafan family.

Back in August 2016, Regional Fundraising Manager Kelly Dibble visited the team at Nuaire to talk to them about Tŷ Hafan and how we support children and their families across Wales.

The team were keen to help raise funds and to volunteer their services at any opportunity we had.

As part of Nation Radio’s Big Welsh Fundraiser, the staff raised funds by wearing green for Tŷ Hafan and they also held a Christmas Jumper Day.

Nuaire staff also collected specific Christmas gifts for the hospice such as DVDs and cartoon duvet covers after finding out that these were some of the items we desperately needed.

They also volunteered their time to help our siblings co-ordinator Anna wrap the hundreds of gifts donated for our siblings party, something she would not have been able to do in time without their support.

Leading up to Christmas, the team offered to come to Tŷ Hafan and decorate the Christmas trees in the hospice. A task that would have been time consuming for our busy care team but also an essential task to ensure that festive feelings emulate through our walls just as they do in a family home.

Although fundraising is vital and keeps our service alive, volunteering is also very important to us and has fantastic benefits for us and those who partake.

Kelly said: “The support Nuaire has given us has been invaluable.

“Our volunteering opportunities are a great way for businesses to really engage with us and understand what Tŷ Hafan is about. The time away from desks encourages conversation and can support mindfulness in and outside the business.

“I know the team at Nuaire have loved being part of the Tŷ Hafan family and are planning further fundraising in 2018.”

We would love more of our supporters to get involved with our volunteering opportunities throughout the year. Whether it’s helping at one of our events, sorting stock in our shops or warehouse or helping us to create new items from old in our Handcrafted by Tŷ Hafan workshop, the opportunities are endless.
