It was lovely to catch up with Mair Davies, Director for Wales, the Royal Pharmacy Society, after being chosen as charity partner for the 2019 RPS Wales Pharmacy Awards. She said:

Congratulations. Both myself and the team here at RPS look forward to working with you to enhance the care you can offer by working towards closer working relationships with pharmacists and technicians in both community and secondary care.”
Our Sully Friends group raised an incredible £11,821 at their 25th Anniversary Summer Ball! A huge thank you to the committee for their hard work, and everyone who supported the gala event at Cardiff City Stadium.
We were delighted to hear from the co-founder of Willamette Valley Children's Charity, Inc. in Oregon in the United States. “I'm interested in your "Bird Song" project and would like to develop something like it with our charity for grieving families in our community.” We also picked up on a lovely article in Mother Nature Network in the US.
Tracy Jones, Head of Community Services, who co-created the concept with sound artist Justin Wiggins, said: “We are thrilled that our remembrance Birdsong project is having such an impact not just here in Wales.” Tracy looks forward to linking up across the pond to support memory making.
Another huge thank you to Castle School in Narberth who raised £13,011.86 rowing two marathons!!
Jeff Davies, an ambassador, got in touch highlight how much he enjoyed the Volunteer Day. He left the event feeling valued by the charity and expressed his gratitude towards all of the staff present. He singled out Jayne from lottery for special praise for helping with his group of volunteers. In particular, he was impressed with her happy attitude, genuine appreciation of the work of the volunteers and hard work throughout the day.
Massive thanks to Franco’s Ristorante il Vecchio, Nathaniels Cars, Neil Warnock, Booker Wholesale and T&H Morris Family Butchers for the amazing meal at the restaurant which raised £1,701.
Another week of fantastic collaboration with our Fundraising Manager, Kath Jones, exclaiming: “Big thanks to Sali (in events) for her support in launching the Cambodia challenge, Diane (Supporter Care) and Natalie (Corporate Fundraiser) have secured a fantastic Gift in Kind donation from Next of over £5,000 which arrived this week, Helen Morgan (Community Fundraiser) who has been linking up with Izzy Withers and her parents this week to support with Izzyfest. Laura Chick and Laura Grindey (Supporter Care) have been a fantastic support to Lauren Sadler while she’s been off work with a knee injury, by attending two First Give school events on her behalf so that our supporters wouldn’t be let down, and Nina Goldsworthy-Griffiths (HR) got our collection boxes into three new locations this week – great bit of collaboration with Helen Young!” Thank you Kath for sharing these examples of Tŷ Hafan values in practice, and get well soon Lauren!!
Hayley Humphrey’s, Head of Hospice Care Services, is pleased to share some feedback from June hospice stays: “All families would most definitely recommend Tŷ Hafan and the rating for overall visits during the month was 96% good and 4% excellent.“ Some comments received were:
Ruth Jones came for a special surprise visit to Izzy Withers who you will remember had over 200k views on social media after she asked for her reaction to a personal video from the Gavin and Stacey cast to be posted. Izzy, her mum and Ruth had a lovely time chatting and comparing Nessa tattoos. Only at Tŷ Hafan!
I’m looking forward to a hospice visit from the senior management team at Circle IT on Monday. On Wednesday, we have the opportunity to thank all the staff at GE Aviation when I will be personally attending each of the three work shifts over 24 hours. Anyone want to sponsor me!?!
Our new Swansea Bay Tŷ Hafan Community Nurse has taken up her post and we are thrilled to welcome Donna Richards back to the Tŷ Hafan fold. Donna says she is really excited to return to working closely with the Tŷ Hafan hospice team again and deliver a new service for our families in and around Swansea.
