a week of stellar support

Welcome to our CEO's most recent blog post all about what went on at Tŷ Hafan last week!

Hayley Humphries, our Head of Hospice Care Services provided feedback on the palliative care short course we developed with Cardiff University and the Health Board. It has led to two of the students embarking on the Palliative Care diploma and a nurse applying to Tŷ Hafan. A great start to the week!

We had the honour of being invited to speak to every shift at the GE Aviation celebration event last Wednesday as part of their 100 years celebration of “reimagining flight”. It is incredible to think that GE Aviation have supported Tŷ Hafan for 20 years by organising the welsh3peaks challenge each year, donating over 27,000 hours of time and raising an incredible £1.82m !

On Thursday, James Meacham gave an incredible interview with Wynne Evans on BBC Radio 2. James and Wynne got to know each other raising funds on the Ride to the Rugby event earlier this year. James spoke about Thomas’ life and their journey as a family. Probably one of the best radio interviews I have heard.

Last weekend, a combined #teamscarlet and Tŷ Hafan ice hockey footgolf event saw "family fun and smiles" at St Andrews. Team Scarlet has been amazing as have the Tŷ Hafan Allstars Ice Hockey team in fundraising for months. It all culminates this Saturday and Sunday at the UK charity All Star weekend at the Viola Arena in Cardiff Bay, for what will be an amazing weekend of ice hockey, and its all for charity.
