Maria Timon Samra, Chief Executive of Tŷ Hafan, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Tŷ Hafan has been shortlisted for a 2021 Cardiff Life Award.

“With the pandemic, the past year has been immensely challenging for all of us, and the charity sector has been hit hard.

“For Tŷ Hafan, providing care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families throughout perhaps the most difficult, uncertain and frightening time in our history, has been far from easy.

“Despite everything, we managed to keep our hospice in Sully open and operational throughout for crisis stays and end-of-life care. Our Care team also adapted to deliver care and support virtually to families who were cut off from their usual support networks.

“But it’s not just about our Care team, amazing though they are. To be shortlisted for one of these prestigious awards is, in itself, a testament to the immense courage, hard work, and resilience of the entire Tŷ Hafan community, including all our staff, our volunteers, our generous fundraisers, funders and donors, our ambassadors, our trustees, and, of course, the incredible children and their families with whom we work.

“I am sure that I can speak for all of them in saying a big thank you to the judges at the Cardiff Life Awards for giving us this recognition. Congratulations to all our fellow finalists too. We are very much looking forward to 30 September when the winners will be announced.”
