fundraising ..... and all that jazz

Hello from Black Mountain Jazz Club in Abergavenny.

We are a small jazz club currently preparing for our 6th annual wall2wall Jazz Festival at the end of August.

This year, having met and chatted with Tŷ Hafan’s Regional Fundraising Manager,Emma Sankey, we are delighted to share our final festival day, Sunday 2nd September, with Tŷ Hafan.

In particular, as a jazz club, we understand the power, creativity and healing qualities of music, and we wish to raise funds specifically for the work of Tŷ Hafan’s music therapy department and support all of the benefits that music can provide.

Located in the historic Victorian Market Hall here in Abergavenny, we host two events on the final Sunday.

The free community wall2wall “Jazz Alley” afternoon, from 12 noon is a fun filled family afternoon with street food, craft stalls, fun and music. This year, with volunteers from Ty Hafan, we will have a “Crafternoon” activity table for all to enjoy. This is part of Tŷ Hafan’s ‘Handcrafted’ project – a collection of gifts, accessories, crafts and furniture all sourced from donated stock and materials. Each item is lovingly crafted, hand painted, stitched and sewn by volunteers and given a brand new lease of life, to be sold in Tŷ Hafan shops, online and at craft fairs and shows. Visitors can come along and create some jazz inspired crafts.

Here is a small taster film of The Market Hall Jazz Alley in 2017

The wall2wall Ty Hafan Charity Swing Party will take place later on in the evening from 7.30pm. This ticketed event ends the whole festival weekend in pure jazz style with the amazing, high energy band The Electric Swing Circus. http://electricswincircus.com/

This dynamic party is set to be a great night and this year Black Mountain Jazz Club is delighted to pledge a contribution of £3 from every ticket sold for this event to Tŷ Hafan. In addition, donations from the Festival Bar and Sugarloaf Catering will also support the work of the Ty Hafan music therapy department.

With infectious world class entertainment, and plenty of food and drink, we’d love for everyone to come and join us to give to a great cause whilst having a great time.

In fact, the wall2wall Jazz festival is already beginning, with our first fringe event completed only last Sunday (5th August).

We are really looking forward to the music, friendship and fun that hosting a festival brings. With this in mind, we would like to say a huge thank you to Emma and the Tŷ Hafan team, for sharing in our wall2wall Jazz Festival in Abergavenny.

We hope that this will be the first of much collaboration and we look forward to meeting some of you, either helping on a stall, or visiting and enjoying one of our events in the Abergavenny Market Hall, on Sunday 2nd September.
