Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen-y-Fan, 20.35 miles and a 9,397 ft ascent in under 15 hours — not a challenge for the faint-hearted!
This year, we’re delighted that 55 teams will be heading up north to take part in the epic challenge to raise £50,000 for Tŷ Hafan.
The Welsh3Peaks challenge is one of the key events in our annual events calendar, having raised over £1.7million since the first event in 1998. The event alone has been vital in providing lifeline services to children and their families over the years — and we’re so grateful to everyone who has taken part.
Tomorrow, participants from across the country and of all abilities will be taking part, even those who have no previous hiking experience. Teams include people who have close links to Tŷ Hafan, like Scarlett’s Army, who will be walking in memory of Scarlett Thomas who sadly died just last year, teams who just want to challenge themselves for a good cause, and also, for the first ever time, the Managing Director of GE Aviation Wales, Nick Blakeney, will be taking on the challenge!
Since the very first event, 21 years ago, GE Aviation Wales has been our headline sponsor. Not only has GE supported us every step of the way in terms of logistics and helping to put on the event, but volunteers from GE always come forward to marshal at each peak to keep the walkers motivated and safe.
So, to all of those taking part in the challenge tomorrow GOOD LUCK and a huge thank-you for your fundraising efforts!!
(Let’s pray for some views like this…)
