Our Senior Play Practitioner Heather Roberts is preparing to take on the GE Aerospace Welsh 3 Peaks challenge on 8th June with her care team colleagues Lynne Phelps, Katie McDonald, Hilary Thurlow, Karen Bassett and Nia Barnes along with Elis Sexton from IT.

The challenge will see this magnificent seven (we came up with the name!), bravely take on Pen y Fan, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), and Cadair Idris in less than 15 hours to raise as much as they can to support our work with children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

When asked what inspired her to take on the challenge, Heather shared: “On a daily basis I’m inspired by the beautiful children with whom we work, the families who show bravery that I could never conceive of and those around me, who work in such a dedicated manner for our amazing hospice. I want us to grow to a point where no family is without our service, should they need it.

“I’m really excited about the challenge; I have always loved to take on personal challenges for good causes and have previously run half marathons and marathons. However, having a toddler means that it’s very difficult for me to carve out time to train for a race, but carrying said toddler around on my shoulders on a daily basis is definitely filling me with confidence that I can tackle the mountains!” added Heather.

Good luck Heather and team, we’re inspired by everything you do for Tŷ Hafan and we’re sure you’ll absolutely smash this challenge.
