On Friday 22nd March, Tŷ Hafan was delighted to welcome Vaughan Gething, Senedd Member for Cardiff South and Penarth and the new First Minister of Wales, to our charity shop in Penarth.
Tracy Jones, Director of Family Wellbeing and Outreach Services, and Sian Bowmer, Regional Sales Manager, spoke with Mr Gething about the impact Tŷ Hafan’s Penarth shop has on the local community, providing a warm welcome to shoppers and supporters alike, as well as a range of high quality affordable stock.
Also discussed was the shop’s positive impact on the environment, thanks to Tŷ Hafan’s commitment to recycling and the renewable economy; and, of course, the impact that income raised by this shop has on the services Tŷ Hafan is able to provide, both at its hospice in Sully and in homes and communities across South, West, Mid and East Wales.
Mr Gething said: “It was lovely to visit Tŷ Hafan’s Penarth shop this morning and meet the team. Hearing about the work that Tŷ Hafan does to support volunteers, the Penarth community and ensure that as much as possible is raised for the vital services the charity provides was fantastic. I hope this shop remains a part of the Penarth community for a long time to come.”
“To be able to welcome Vaughan into our shop was fantastic,” said Tracy Jones.
“As our local Senedd Member we already have a great relationship with Vaughan and he’s been vocal in his support of the services that Tŷ Hafan offers. Our retail offer is a vital part of that, providing a community link to our services, as well as a safe space for the community and volunteers to come together, learn new skills and support the vital work of Tŷ Hafan.”
