Intrepid children’s nurse Francesca Lennon has brought her unique cycle challenge back to Tŷ Hafan today (Thursday June 20) to mark Children’s Hospice Week.

Francesca set off from Tŷ Hafan just after 9am this morning to cycle a day-long 54 mile circular route to help raise awareness of Tŷ Hafan and the work that we do and raise £100,000 for Together for Short Lives.

Inspired by her work with seriously ill children for more than a decade Francesca founded ChatUK (Children’s Hospices Across The UK), which facilitates a network between children’s hospices UK-wide and helps to publicise their work.

Two years ago, and inspired by Henry, the son of Ms Lennon’s close friend, who died from acute myeloid leukaemia at nine years old, Francesca cycled 3,200 miles over 70 days from June 20 to August 28, visiting all 54 children’s hospice in the UK en route including Tŷ Hafan.

“I am so excited to have Tŷ Hafan as one of our chosen hospices to cycle from,” she said. “I absolutely loved coming to visit Tŷ Hafan during my challenge in 2022 in which I cycled to every children’s hospice in the UK and cannot wait to return to see you all again!

“This year I will be supported by my mum Camilla and we’re really looking forward to cycling around the beautiful Welsh countryside to help promote the amazing work that you do. Our route is 54 miles long because we’re doing one mile for every children’s hospice in the UK.”
