Ride to the Rugby is the definition of teamwork, camaraderie and blood, sweat and tears! Being part of a group of 50 riders where you’ll all share the same experience in cycling 217 miles in brave conditions, all while fundraising to make a difference to families in Wales – this will be a memory that will stay with you forever.
You will depart on Tuesday 20th February from Swansea and cycle for four days, arriving in Dublin on Friday 23rd February. You’ll then have Saturday morning free to explore Dublin ahead of the Ireland v Wales Six Nations match on Saturday afternoon, before returning by Ferry and coach to Swansea on Sunday 25th February.
Day 1 – You’ll cycle 67 miles from the Swansea.com Stadium – home of The Ospreys – to Tenby, with the first half of the day’s cycling along the cycle track towards Kidwelly. This is a great opportunity to settle into the saddle and get to know your teammates for this challenge.
Day 2 – You’ll cycle 30 miles from Tenby to Pembroke Dock Rugby Club, exploring the tips of Pembrokeshire before an afternoon crossing across the Irish Sea.
Day 3 – You’ll cycle 70 miles from Rosslare to Arklow, following the East coast of Ireland as you head towards Dublin.
Day 4 – The last day of cycling will see you cycle 70 miles from Arklow to Dublin ahead of an evening gathering in Temple Bar.
Day 5 – Transfer into the centre of Dublin ahead of watching Wales play Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.
Day 6 – The challenge is complete and hopefully Wales have enjoyed an emphatic victory, you’ll head back across the Irish sea and to the Swansea.com stadium.
“I never even owned a bike before this challenge, now I’m pro” – Ride to the Rugby participant 2022.
“At times I felt like stopping, but then I remembered why I started and who I was doing it for” – Ride to the Rugby 2019 participant
