Frequently asked questions

All you need to know about the skydive

Who can take part in the Tŷ Hafan Skydive?

Skydive participants must be aged 18 or above.

You will need to fill in a medical form, and in some cases your doctor will also need to sign the form to certify you fit to jump.

The weight restriction for Swansea Airfield is 18 stone (please note a surcharge of £10 will apply for every stone over 15 stone).

If you have any questions about medical conditions or weight restrictions please contact events@tyhafan.org or info@skylineevents.co.uk before reserving your place.

What is a tandem jump like?

A Tandem skydive lets you experience free fall without the need for lots of training. You will free fall from at least 10,000 feet with the parachute being opened at 5,000 feet. You then get to float down the last mile with your instructor to a soft landing. This is the perfect experience for your first-time jump as you are attached to an instructor who does all of the work for you. This leaves you free to enjoy the view!

Will the weather affect the skydive?

Skydiving is a weather dependent activity.  The airfield will make every effort to ensure that all jumpers can jump on the day, though this may mean there is some waiting around for the best weather conditions.  In the event that the skydive cannot go ahead for safety reasons, the airfield will try to let us know in advance, and we will work with them to reschedule the jump date.

What do I wear to skydive?

The airfield will provide you with a jumpsuit on the day. You just need to wear comfortable clothing underneath and suitable tie up shoes (trainers or something similar would be ideal). We recommend layering up on a colder day and wearing ski gloves (optional).

Glasses and contact lenses are fine to wear.  The airfield will provide goggles to accommodate these.

Can my friends and family come along to watch?

Yes, friends and family are very welcome to come along to support you!  There is a cafe on site for refreshments.

Please note, dogs are not allowed at Swansea Airfield.

How much do I need to fundraise?

The minimum fundraising target is £500, which we ask for you to raise by a week before the jump.  If you do not reach the minimum amount you may need to pay the balance for your jump.

Fundraising with Just Giving

Online fundraising is a great way to raise sponsorship. When you set up an online fundraising page at www.justgiving.com search for ‘Tŷ Hafan Skydive 2024’ which will link your page to the event. The funds from Just Giving automatically come through to Tŷ Hafan, so once you have set up your page and share it with friends, family and colleagues, you don’t have to do anything else.

Ready to Sign up?
