Our Chief Executive Irfon Rees has welcomed today’s announcement of a three-year commitment to provide funding to children’s hospices across England.
The UK Government has committed £26 million a year, which will be spread across all children’s hospices in England, for the next three years.
Irfon said, “I welcome the UK Government’s decision to maintain and increase funding for children’s hospices in England. This commitment shows they have listened to the voices of the sector and to the families of seriously ill children who rely on these vital services.
“Crucially, today’s announcement of multi-year funding, with built-in uplifts to reflect rising costs, offers much-needed stability. It will enable children’s hospices in England to plan ahead, invest in care, and continue to be a lifeline for the families they support.
“Now, I urge the Welsh Government to follow through on its long-standing promise to deliver a sustainable funding settlement for hospices in Wales. I call on all Welsh political parties to prioritise this in their budget negotiations and ensure that children and families in Wales are not left behind.”
