This week gives us an opportunity to focus attention on what we do and why we do it, plus highlight some of the issues and challenges we encounter along the way.
In Wales, our theme for Children’s Hospice Week is ‘Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives’ and throughout the seven days we will be sharing stories from some of our families on our website, in the media, and on our social media, plus we will be inviting you to tell us what Tŷ Hafan means to you.
Play our Crackerjackpot lottery – we have £2,000 up for grabs every week. Will you be our next winner?
Fundraise for us – there are loads of great opportunities to suit people of all ages and all interests
We will also be using the opportunity created by Children’s Hospice Week to highlight once again the findings of our ground-breaking Family Voices Report and the need for a Lifeline Fund, for fair and sustainable funding from the Welsh Government for children’s hospices in Wales.
At the moment we are very much the poor relation when it comes to statutory funding for children’s hospices in the UK. Did you know that children’s hospices in Scotland get a whopping 50% of their funding from the Scottish Government, and in England the figure is 20%?
In Wales, Tŷ Hafan and Tŷ Gobaith (in North Wales) only get less than 10% of our funding from the Welsh Government. That’s the lowest in the UK.
like and share our content on social media thoughout the week so as many people as possible can get to find out what we do, why we do it, and how they can help us
tell us what Tŷ Hafan means to you – either write in the comments on our social media feeds, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
and please share the messages below on your own social media feeds using the graphics supplied
Did you know that @tyhafan and @HopeHouseKids are currently providing care and support for 430 children with a life-limiting condition and their families in Wales? #ChildrensHospiceWeek #LifelineFund
@tyhafan and @HopeHouseKids get less than 10% of our funding from @WelshGovernment. Lowest in the UK. We’re calling for a #LifelineFund for fair and sustainable funding for children’s hospices in Wales. Pls RT to support #ChildrensHospiceWeek
It’s #ChildrensHospiceWeek and @tyhafan and @HopeHouseKids are calling for a #LifelineFund for fair and sustainable funding for Wales’ children’s hospices. @WelshGovernment
