Lifeshortening conditions can cover a wide range of different health issues, and not all have a specific diagnosis. Children eligible for Tŷ Hafan support are likely to have very complex health needs and often multiple disability and sensory impairment issues that mean the likelihood of death in childhood is high. This may include children who become life-shortened due to acquired conditions such as organ failure and cancer or because of an acute event such as an accident or severe infection, e.g. meningitis.
