Please note that unfortunately the event Where the Birds Sing Our Names – an evening of poetry for Tŷ Hafan which was set to take place in All Saints Church, Penarth on this evening (Wednesday 10 May) has been cancelled.
Where the Birds Sing Our Names is an anthology of poetry and lyrics published to raise money for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice. Edited by Professor Tony Curtis, this beautiful anthology features work by some of the UK’s best loved poets and writers, including National Poets Gillian Clarke and Gwyneth Lewis, to Max Boyce and Lord Rowan Williams.
The title celebrates the memory of each Tŷ Hafan child with an unique bird song. For each child that passes away under the care of Tŷ Hafan, a recorded sound imprint is created by first turning their name into morse-code and then sampling bird song around it. Each unique recording is played in the hospice grounds and a copy of the song given to the child’s family.
