Every day, thousands of families in Wales live with the heart-wrenching fear that it could be their child’s last. On average, families are told to ‘say goodbye’ to their child five times before the day they’ve been dreading happens.
Outside of Tŷ Hafan, there is very little choice for families about when and where their child dies. Those who die in hospital are often provided with minimal support and sent home, not knowing where to turn. The families of children who have died tell us that they often feel abandoned after the death of their child. They struggle to plan the funeral, don’t know how to grieve, and are unsure how they will carry on.
At Tŷ Hafan, we understand that the journey isn’t over when a child dies. We walk alongside every family as they grieve, providing the support they need for as long as they need us.
How you can support
We need your help to continue offering these vital services for families coping with the loss of a child. Your support will provide immediate and practical support for families and could pay for things like the counselling and therapy they desperately need during their darkest times.
