Children’s Hospice Week this year runs between 19 to 25 June and we hope as many of you as possible will do what you can to support it and raise awareness of what we do and how people can support us.
A key date is Tuesday, June 20, when we will launch ground-breaking new research looking at trends within the population of children living with life-shortening conditions in Wales in the decade from 2009 to 2019.
This research is the first ever undertaken to look specifically at trends within the population of children with life-shortening conditions in Wales and has been undertaken by a team from the University of York and funded by the Welsh Government through the National Programme Board for Palliative and End of Life Care.
The Children in Wales Requiring Palliative Care: Trends in Prevalence and Complexity 2009 – 2019 Report will be launched at an event, sponsored by Jayne Bryant MS, in the Pierhead Building, Cardiff Bay between 12.00 and 14.00.
Other keynote speakers will include the report’s authors Professor Lorna Fraser (King’s College London) and Dr Stuart Jarvis (University of York) as well as representatives of families who access services from both Tŷ Hafan and Tŷ Gobaith, Wales’ two children’s hospices.
Other attendees will include key policy makers, health and care representatives and families who access hospice services.
So please follow us on our social media feeds to find out more and on Tuesday June 20 at 2pm you will be able to access the report on our website.
In the meantime, please continue to help us to raise awareness of the life-changing work that Tŷ Hafan and Tŷ Gobaith do by downloading our Children’s Hospice Week social media tile here and sharing it on your own social media feeds.
Thank you for your support.
