What is an Appeal Champion?

An Appeal Champion reaches out and asks people they know to donate to the appeal. This could be via a network or community, colleagues, parents at school or through social media. You can also host a fundraising event around the time of the appeal and add your donation to your page. All donations made to this appeal through your support will be match funded and doubled in value.

Once you register, you can spread the word and encourage everyone you know to donate. We’ll set up your fundraising page and send you a link on Saturday 25th November for you to share.

Our appeal champions last year were phenomenal, helping raise £344,649! If you want to be part of something amazing and help us reach this year’s goal of £350,000 please register now.

Alfi’s story

“Tŷ Hafan was recommended to us when Alfi and Besi were 9 months old. We didn’t know what it was back then, but the thought of being referred to a children’s hospice was horrendous. You never want to think of your child going into a hospice but Tŷ Hafan wasn’t anything like we imagined it to be. We thought it would just be a place where very poorly children go to die. We couldn’t have been more wrong,”

Sara tells us.

We couldn’t imagine our lives without Tŷ Hafan now. It doesn’t feel like a hospice.

“The support they have given us has been incredible. There were times when Alfi was rushed into hospital and Tŷ Hafan staff were already there waiting for us, making sure we had a bed and everything we needed. They were our lifeline.

We lived with the reality that every Christmas together with Alfi could be our last.

“Alfi died peacefully in his dad’s arms on 1st March, St David’s Day and our wedding anniversary. Every year on the 1st March, we go to Tŷ Hafan. It’s our safe haven.

Even 8 years on from Alfi’s death, it’s still our home from home. “At Tŷ Hafan, you don’t have to put a brave face on. Youdon’t have to pretend that everything is ok, because every family understands how you feel.

“There’s not a day that goes by when we don’t think of Alfi. When we see the moon, we all think of Alfi because he’s our little boy in the moon – that’s what we used to tell Besi – so he’s always with us.
